When I sit down with any rig built for the ethereal tones of modern worship music, this is the sound I chase. It’s the tone I naturally gravitate toward when tracking songs, and it’s where I land when I take a song in a different direction and write my own parts.

To me, it’s just that sound. Open. Airy. A supportive wash underneath. It keeps me from overplaying and helps me focus on what matters. When I think of being “locked in” from a tone perspective, this is it. And when my tone is locked in, I’m able to focus less on it, and more on Christ.

I hope you enjoy using this preset as much as I did making it. Soli Deo Gloria!

Troy, GFHG

Amp Captures

These captures come from my “Dual Capture Collection”, a season where I invested heavily in my favorite amps, dialed ‘em in exactly how I wanted them to sound, and profiled them with the Kemper.

When I had them, I experimented with creating dual profiles—blending two amps together into a single profile. One of my favorite combinations was the AC30 and Benson Chimera, so I captured that pairing in two ways: one with the Benson as the primary flavor and one with the AC30 as the primary flavor. I tried this with a few different amps and ended up with some great combinations.

In the end, the experiment was worth it. And the profiles translated incredibly well to the Quad Cortex and the Tonex stuff!

Dry Effect Neural Captures Included

I captured the following pedals using the settings I use most often.

  • GFHG Cali76 FET Compressor – subtle compression and boost
  • SOJ SoloDallas Storm Custom Push Drive – used as a push drive… … …
  • Shnobel Tone Daily Driver Boost – my main light-to-medium gain drive

Signal Chain

Compressor – GFHG Cali76 FET Neural Capture
POG – Settings vary per scene. Stock setting is my “all-around” POG2 tone. Setting on the Ambient scene gets a little nuts, but nails the pingy sounds we hear on a lot of Phil Wickham stuff.
Drive 1 – GFHG SOJ SoloDallas Storm Custom Push Drive
Drive 2 – GFHG Neural Capture of Shnobel Tone Daily Driver Boost
Boost – RC Booster
Vibrato
Tremolo
Volume Pedal – Dialed in to match my… just kidding.
8th Delay
Dotted 8th Delay
Reverb 1 – Dialed to match the sound I hear in my head. Wash underneath. Ethereal. Present but not in the way. Settings adjust per scene to optimize mix level based on gain structure and tonal goal.
Reverb 2 – Dedicated ambient reverb for spacious moments.

Split Left / Right

Left Amp Path: AC30 + Benson Chimera Capture
Right Amp Path: AC30 + Fender Prosonic Capture
Post EQ – Final polish. The glue that brings everything together.
